General Information

Originally formed in May 1969 as the Colorado Chart Company, International Management Systems Inc. was set up as a subsidiary of Samsonite. Its primarily responsibility (and only evident one) was the sale of the Danish Modulex throughout the United States beginning in early 1970.

Different from some other Samsonite plants/offices, this subsidiary used a very small building located at 1400 West Alameda Avenue in Denver, Colorado and likely did not employ many people. Virtually all packaging, elements, and paperwork were produced in Denmark, IMS did demonstrations and handled domestic sales.

The Modulex partnership is covered in this article: Modulex by Samsonite. Essentially, it lasted from 1970-71, with some questions still left unanswered as to what exactly happened at the end.

International Management Systems Inc outright disappeared in all print media after 1971, and their office in Denver became a tire store within 1972. It is assumed IMS was out of operation by 1972.

Originally, when first announced as the Colorado Chart Company, IMS operated from 519 N. Tejon St., Colorado Springs. The change in address came before the change in name, as seen on this Modulex brochure.
