Ever hear of the 'final frontier'?

I don't believe it can ever exist, to have a world in which no further exploration is possible. The concept simply ignores the volatile memory of the world around us. While we constantly expand our horizons, we incidentally allow information to slip through the cracks. We inadvertently create new frontiers.

Even recent past can be lost.

Originally, the goal of this site was to preserve the era in which Samsonite had the license to produce and distribute LEGO in North America, as it is the most poorly documented era of LEGO history. LEGO themselves rely on enthusiast research to fill that gap, as proper records were not kept and surviving materials can be incredibly scarce. The site has been rather successful on that front due to our extreme diligence. Many of our findings and analyses, often to questions thought impossible to answer or ideas once thought certain, are now accepted by authorities in the space and have even reached Billund.

Part of that research was for Samsonite's own history, which led me to realize something: no one is charting Samsonite’s own history in detail.

And that led me down a further rabbithole, not only falling in love with archival work and documentation, but also developing an adoration for luggage history itself. And therein I identified a problem: luggage across the board is poorly preserved online. Sure—summaries, corporate histories, and encyclopedias exist, but they don't make sense of the minutiae and are often misled or incorrect. If a collector wished to date a particular piece of luggage, based on a style, color, or other detail, they'd have no recourse. They'd have to do that research themselves, likely arriving at an incomplete answer, and the next person would have to do the same. It shouldn't be that way.

Thus the existence of this site.

 Regarding the Personal Page

The personal tab... remember the days when everyone had a personal website? Geocities, man. I missed out, I was a little busy being not born yet in 1999. But I want what everyone else wanted back then. I want that little corner to carve out for myself, pure share passions and such. It's not anything related to the site.

After all, why go through all this trouble and not carve out that little corner?
